Grenada Blue was founded by Manny Dobal and Nicholas Bernal in 2022. The sea was the mutual passion that brought them together 15 years as freedivers. Then in 2022 they found themselves uniquely qualified to embark on Grenada Blue, a seafood importer specializing in fresh yellowfin tuna. Nick has a doctorate in Marine Biology and has specialized in logistics, importation, fresh food handling and overseas business development for the past 15 years. Manny has 25 years of food handling and operations background along with sales and entrepreneurial business development experience.
Today, Grenada Blue specializes in the importation and wholesale distribution of whole fresh yellowfin tuna (Thunnus Albacares) mainly from the eastern Caribbean region. Grenada Blue is one of the only importers of fresh yellowfin tuna that is vertically integrated and owns and operates its own fish packing facility in Grenada. This gives us a unique opportunity to control our quality all the way to the fishermen/boats that supply Grenada Blue. Last year we added Chilean Uni(sea urchin) to our fresh line(also frozen), and Southern King Crab(frozen).
Our plant in Grenada was recently remodeled and upgraded in 2025 to include a new 15 ton ice machine and various new climate controlled fish processing areas. It is a HACCP certified facility and we are in the process of FIP certification as well.
